Ana Rita Cruz’s Expertise I am a Post-doctoral researcher at Champalimaud Foundation, in the Systems Oncology Group (Costa-Silva Lab). I am deciphering how extracellular vesicles derived from cancer cells promote tumor growth and metastases. I have a PhD in Infection and Immunity, from the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands. My PhD project was funded by the European Union’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, in a collaboration between GSK Vaccines in Siena, Italy and University Medical Center Utrecht (UMC), in Utrecht, The Netherlands. I worked in both sites to study the multi-drug resistant bacterium Staphylococcus aureus and its interaction with the host. Before my PhD, I worked as a research fellow in the Functional Genomics and RNA-Based Therapeutics Group at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, Portugal and in the Vectors and Gene Therapy Group at the same institute, as a trainee. I graduated in Biochemistry and did my Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, at University of Coimbra, Portugal.
